SEATTLE - Technology could make it easier for commuters on the Eastside to carpool.

Already 900 people have signed up for the new ride share program that begins at the end of the month. Money is a big factor, with gas prices rising and tolling to begin on the 520 bridge in the coming months.

"Gas prices are going through the roof at the moment and we think it will be a big motivator for people to change their behavior and start sharing rides," said Project Manager Joseph Malone.

Once people have signed up on the Go520.org website, they use an app that connects drivers with riders.

Background checks are done to ensure the safety of participants.

The Legislature will receive a report once the pilot program is completed.
