SEATTLE -- A wild high speed chase kept officers from Snohomish County to Seattle busy overnight.

The chase started in Mukilteo and ended with a crash in South Seattle and the driver of a stolen vehicle at Harborview Medical Center.

A Seattle Times delivery driver was making his rounds delivering newspapers around 2:30 a.m. when he left his van running. That's when a thief jumped into the van and took off to south Everett. He led police onto I-405, Highway 520 and I-5 through Seattle.

Police tried to set up pit maneuvers to stop the driver, but were unsuccessful. The chase ended in South Seattle when the driver slammed into a sedan. The driver of the sedan was uninjured, but the car thief sustained injuries and was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

In all, the chase lasted about half an hour and involved four police agencies.

No word yet on the charges the alleged car thief faces or his condition.

those of you that think they should not pursue car theives give me your addresses! no seriouslly the problem is not the fact that the vehicles are stolen but what the criminals do with them afterwards. forget the guys stripping them down for parts and think about things like roberies, drive by shootings and drug transport. one other thing a neighbor of mine was killed in a crash with a stolen car that was NOT being chased by the police. i know from the way you talk about the police you do not like them much, but have you been wronged or it it just that when you are screwing up like say speeding or not quite stopping for the stop sign you tend to find a flashing light behind you?

iphlogger - app or no app, it's illegal to describe police conversations in detail - I've been scanning for 35 years and we all keep our mouth shut about specifics, unless you want the FBI at your door wondering who you're trying to help. and no, rebroadcasting of itself is not illegal, but describing it IS - else why don't various pro-law blogs do the same? I assisted in my sons' school going into lockdown when I heard a nutbar with a gun was seen near the school - but I called the school & told 'em it was on TV :)

Looks like Michael D. Williams has been charged with, Vehicular Assault, Assault 3, Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Attempting to Elude. Who wants to bet that he has faced these charges a time or two before?

I was listening to this live via police scanner app on my iPhone. They tried a few times to PIT and even put down tire strip on west side of 520 bridge with no luck. Speeds reached 100mph at one point. When they got down near Boeing Field the Snohomish county cops had to drop pursuit and let Seattle take over because they were losing radio contact. Thankfully the mornon crashed and they taser'd him. Moron. Lucky he didn't kill anybody. He hit several of the Snoho cops cars on purpose. Throw away the key.

kbbcoop... not exactly a precise science is it? When you make slurpees at your workplace coop you do it the same way everytime... Not all working environments allow for that... this why you work where you do... and better people work in other places ; )

Why chase stolen vehicles? So what if people start stealing more if they know they will get away, right?

I also agree that a stolen vehicle should not warrant a police chase that spans that many cities! How many people could have been hit and killed purely for a stolen car? This comes from someone who was almost killed as a result of a police chase through 5 cities for some stolen goods. I don’t think my life, or any other persons life is worth catching a thief who will spend maybe a month in jail.

dori? can we sue you instead for idiotic comments? Dear heavens... that one about the ship fire was a topper... Dude... you don't even realize you are a moron, do you? You are completely oblivious to it. Even the real Dori Monson isn't that spaz.

these people that threaten to kill every body on the roadway need to be taken out. rocket launchers used by police, helicopter gun ships, exsploding spike strips.police trained to drive at high speed with ability to wreck the vechicle in question, snipers placed on overpass, the biggest problem is that cops are trained to stay back and stay safe, because they can,t be of any help to any body if they are hurt. the case in point, home owner calls 911 tell operater he has been shot, intruder has left, police come surround house, keep at a safe distance, medical team is held back till you are no threat to police and are dead.best thing you can do is tell the operater you are having heart attack.police are trained to stay back if there is any chance of somebody getting hurt.
