VANCOUVER -- A car driven by a young man reportedly under the influence of synthetic marijuana plowed into a Vancouver home about 6:20 a.m. Wednesday morning, smashing through the master bedroom and two other bedrooms.

The homeowner's sister told KGW that most of the contents of the home at Southeast Park Crest Avenue and Blairmont Drive appear to have been destroyed.

The owner was in Paris with her daughter, who had just graduated from high school, the sister told KGW. Otherwise, they would have been in their bedrooms when the car came crashing through.

She said the destruction left her "speechless."

The driver, 19, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and was expected to survive. Police said he made no apparent attempt to apply the brakes.

"The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit believes that speed and impairment from Spice (synthetic marijuana) are the causing factors," police said in a prepared statement.

This was the second Spice-related traffic crash in the past week, police said.
