I-90 from the Ryegrass rest area to the Vantage Bridge was closed Tuesday night due to a brush fire.

The fire was burning near Milepost 126.

The Department of Transportation said the fire was jumping the road, and due to the nature of the event, an estimated time to open the roadway was unknown.

Check the DOT website for current closure information.

State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Stokes Road Fire, in Okanogan County, near Twisp.

Twenty-five residences and an unknown number of outbuildings are threatened by the fire.  Level 3 evacuation orders are in place for some areas near the fire.

Firefighters assigned to the Mills Canyon Fire were providing support to a new start near Chiwaukim Creek, 4 miles south of the Nason Creek Rest area on Highway 2 in Central Washington.
