Brass plaques stolen from graves of veterans

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. -- It wasn't the way Dale Lofall expected to spend Veterans Day.

Lofall spent last Friday telling relatives of veterans that their gravemarkers had been stolen.

"It was just a real shock," said Lofall, president of the Breidabik Evergreen Cemetery near Pouslbo.

Lofall says thieves stole 12 brass gravemarkers from the cemetery recently. Most of the markers belonged to veterans.

The thefts were discovered by a widow visiting her former husband's site Friday, Veterans Day.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office is asking metal recyclers to be on the lookout for the brass markers.

Straight into a shipping container and off to China, Mexico, Bangladesh or ????? It will never see the light of day at any state-side recyclers.

These meth heads who steal grave markers are the lowest form of pondscum. May a thousand camels defecate on their mother's grave.

I am a veteran and this got me to thinking. I am going to start walking the cemetery here at night just to keep an eye on things. I guess if these thieves read and see this then let this be the first and last warning they will get. Heck, this might be fun hanging out with old friends all night. I bet we don't lose any markers.

Drug addicts are always stealing metal to be sold. Going this far is about the lowest form of scum known to the human race when you steal from graves. I knew of a guy that would sell flowers out on the road and then I found out how he got them, he was stealing them from the graveyards. He finally got turned in to the police.
