A long-sought dream came true for a Bothell man on Friday night when the 26-year-old celebrated his birthday with a performance from Billy Idol.

The pop star agreed to perform at Michael Henrichsen's party after two years of creative begging and pleading.

The Billy Idol campaign started for Henrichsen after he graduated from college. He was working at two internships and a full-time retail job with $40,000 in school debt, but wanted to do something to jump start his career in public relations.

When a friend suggested getting Billy Idol to play for his birthday, Henrichsen set out to make it happen.

During Friday's show, Idol guitarist Steve Stevens played 'Happy Birthday' in the middle of a solo. Then Idol called Henrichsen onto the stage for a rendition of the song.

Henrichsen said he was "speechless."

"The fact that he's up there, you know, talking about me, dedicating 'Rebel Yell' to me, to have all my friends out there, jumping and sweating and having a good time, I'm absolutely speechless right now," he said.

The sold out bash also served as a fundraiser for "Billy Idol Aid 4,” raising more than $13,000 for the Northwest Harvest food bank and the American Red Cross.
