Fortune announced Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos as their businessperson of the year Friday.
The Fortune article said, "It's his penchant for taking risks and disrupting other industries that earned him the top spot on our list."
Bezos visited "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" Thursday to talk about the honor. Bezos touched on how his company competes with Apple, along with other topics.
"We're trying to sell a service, not just a device," Bezos told Fallon when comparing Amazon to Apple.
Fortune said that Bezos' focus on long-term gains over short-term profitiability as a major reason the company is doing so well.
Bezos founded Amazon in 1994 out of a garage and took the company public in 1997.
