The Washington State Department of Transportation will close several ramps to and from Interstate 5 in Seattle before the fireworks show at South Lake Union Thursday. The closures are a safety measure to help the Washington State Patrol and Seattle Police keep drivers from stopping on I-5 to watch the fireworks.
The following ramps will close at approximately 9 p.m.
- The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Roanoke Street
- The Boylston street on-ramp to southbound I-5
- The southbound I-5 exit-only lane and off-ramp to Mercer Street
The closures will end by 10 p.m. The ramps and lane will reopen at the conclusion of the fireworks display.
Drivers should also expect the State Route 520 floating bridge drawspan to open several times due to boating traffic Thursday. The drawspan will open with two hours notice. Boaters with vessels up to 59 feet tall may use the channel. Drawspan openings will be limited to boats 59 feet and taller.
