HELENA, Mont. -- According to the preliminary autopsy, a 3-year-old boy from Lacey, Wash., likely died from blunt and sharp force injuries.
Police discovered the Broderick Daniel Cramer's body off a roadway in southwestern Montana on Tuesday, a day after arresting the boy's biological father.
Broderick would have turned four next Tuesday.
A gas station attendant called the police because the man was washing blood off his clothes and body in a convenience store restroom.
Jeremy Brent Cramer, 38, of Lacey, Wash., was being held on a disorderly conduct charge while police investigate the boy's death, Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Attorney Ben Krakowka said. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses, authorities said.
Cramer may have been involved in a custodial dispute over his son and took the boy from Lacey, according to a statement from the Montana Department of Justice.
