Longtime sports radio personality Mike Gastineau ("The Gasman") joined Margaret to chat about two projects he's devoted himself to since leaving the airwaves. He's written SOUNDERS FC: AUTHENTIC MASTERPIECE, which chronicles the Seattle Sounders' rise from a struggling team that bounced from league to league, to the crown jewel of the MLS. Mike interviewed executives, athletes, fans and others, to find out how an incredibly diverse group of people (billionaire Paul Allen, comedian/actor Drew Carey, Hollywood producer Joe Roth and sports executive Adrian Hanauer) came together to launch a MLS expansion team to incredible success.
Mike will host a launch party for SOUNDERS FC: AUTHENTIC MASTERPIECE at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22 at The Market Arms Pub in Ballard. Tickets are $40 and includes an autographed copy of the book, plus the opportunity to mingle with Sounders FC coaches and players. Sounders FC announcer Ross Fletcher will serve as emcee. Please click here for more information or to purchase tickets (21 and over only) Note: a portion of the ticket price will go to America Scores Seattle, a non-profit that offers an after-school program combining soccer and creative writing with service learning for third, fourth and fifth graders in high-needs public elementary schools in Seattle's Central District, Rainier Beach, and White Center neighborhoods.
Mike also talked about his work with Pearl Jam Radio on SiriusXM and chatted about the band's tenth studio album "Lightning Bolt," which came out today in a number of formats, including viny. He shared why he loves Pearl Jam so much (great music, extremely socially consciousness and Seattle-based, to name just a few reasons).
