Former Olympians preview competition to select US Olympic Diving Team

A special competition gets under way this weekend that will help decide which divers represent the red, white and blue at the Summer Olympics in London.

The USA Diving Olympic Team Trials are taking place in Federal Way from June 17th to 24th. Among the hopefuls are two young divers from Western Washington, Carrie Dragland who graduated from Bothell High School, and Katrina Young from Shoreline.

Here to talk with New Day are formers Olympians, Ellen Owen (7th place finisher at ’92 Olympics in Barcelona/current diving coach at Issaquah High School) and Kelly (McCormick)  Robertson (Silver medalist at ’84 Olympics in LA/Bronze medalist at '88 Olympics in Seoul/current diving coach for Federal Way School District) to talk about the upcoming USA team diving trials and who is looking good for the upcoming season.

The USA Diving Olympic Team Trials take place June 17 - 24 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. For more information about the events and divers taking part, please click here.
