A local company has created a handheld device that will instantly measure how much fat a person is burning. The device is called Medamonitor and it works by measuring the amount of acetone in a person's breath (acetone is a fat-burning indicator). Medamonitor founder and president Brad Root joined Margaret to talk more about the technology behind Medamonitor, as well as the company's plans to expand its use beyond the health and fitness market, to help people living with chronic diseases like Type 1 Diabetesand Epilepsy.

The Medamonitor device will come with an app that will let people monitor how their diet and exercise affects their ability to burn fat. Medamonitor is slated to hit the market in late summer.
