The Seattle Mariners and the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence have been partners in the M's "Refuse to Abuse" campaign for more than a decade. This year, they're teaming up to host a 5k that takes place entirely inside Safeco Field. Mariners manager Eric Wedge and his wife Kate are Honorary Co-Chairs of the Refuse to Abuse 5k.
Kate and Ilene Stohl, the Coordinator of WSCADV's new prevention program, joined Margaret to talk about the event and the importance of talking about domestic violence and harmful relationships, especially to younger people who may just be starting to date.
If you know (or are) a teenager experiencing dating violence or an abusive relationship, call the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline: 866-331-9474.
