Journalist Stephen Rodrick tackles all kinds of topics, including politics, sports, films for for publications such as the New York Times Magazine and Men's Journal.  His most challenging project might be one that's closest to his heart - to learn more about his father, who died in a Navy jet crash when Stephen was just a boy.

His research led him to his father's old squadron, the VAQ 135 Black Ravens, based at NAS Whidbey Island. The result of this extensive reseach is the book "The Magical Stranger", part-memoir/part inside look at the lives of Navy pilots and their families, especially during times of war.

Stephen joined Margaret to talk about his research and what happened when he spent time with the Black Ravens - and what he ended up learning about his father, Navy Commander Peter Rodrick, in the process.
