Amanda Hesser, the well-known New York Times food columnist, spent 5 years working on her latest cookbook, The Essential New York Times Cookbook.   Drawing from 150 years worth of New York Times archived recipes, Hesser  tested more than 1,400 of them and included 1,000 in the new book.   She came to New Day Northwest to demonstrate one of her favorite seasonal treats she discovered while writing the book.
