The Seattle Thunderbirds are always thinking of ways to entertain their fans and give back to the community and two upcoming events will let them do both.
T-Birds' Media Relations Director Ian Henry and Judi Swift from Fred Meyer joined Margaret to talk about this weekend's Turkey Shoot, which gets female fans down onto the ice, shooting the puck for a chance to win a turkey from Fred Meyer. The supermarket chain has teamed up with the T-Birds for the last nine years to make this happen. This year's Fred Meyer Turkey Shoot takes place Saturday, November 17, following the Seattle Thunderbirds vs. Spokane Chiefs game at ShoWare Center. (The game begins at 7:05). Please click here for more information about the Fred Meyer Turkey Shoot and to buy tickets to the game. We also played a fun and crazy hockey game with Kyla and Tay from Peninsula High School and Cool Bird! (You have to see it to believe it!)
Ian also talked about the Seattle Thunderbirds Community Sports Foundation's "Support A Sport" event, which takes place Wednesday, November 21 at the T-Birds vs. Kootenay Ice game at ShoWare Center. "Support A Sport" is a unique program that allows fans to attend a T-Birds game, with 100% of their ticket purchase going to the school of their choice within the Kent School District. The Seattle Thunderbirds Community Sports Foundation has raised nearly $140,000 since 2009. For more information about the Foundation, including how to donate to or benefit from it, please click here.
