Matthew Quick, the author who wrote the bestselling novel SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, which was turned into an Academy Award-winning movie, is out with a new novel. The quirky and touching THE GOOD LUCK OF RIGHT NOW examines relationships, accepting oneself and dealing with the deepeset challenges of life. The novel is written as a series of letters from the main character to actor/humanitarian Richard Gere.
Matthew joined Margaret to chat about the inspiration behind the novel and its unique format, as well as what motivates him to create characters that are not so mainstream, and storylines that invite conversations about quirks, mental illness and the need to accept people's differences as humans, not "labels." Like SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, THE GOOD LUCK OF RIGHT NOW is being developed for the big screen, with a team from Dreamworks spearheading the project.
Matthew will read from and sign copies of THE GOOD LUCK OF RIGHT NOW tonight at 7:00pm at Elliott Bay Book Company (1521 Tenth Avenue, Seattle 98122. Phone: 206.624.6600)
