The longtime fan-favorite, Roger Levesque, entered last night's game against Chelsea to 53-thousand-fans standing, cheering and showering him with so much love -- he had to stop and acknowledge them before joining the action.

The ovation capped a day of excitement, including King county executive Dow Constantine proclaiming July 18, 2012 to be Roger Levesque Day. But fans don't love Roger just because of his talent on the pitch, contributing to a number of championship seasons with the sounders. They adore him for his tremendous heart-- and the time he devotes to fans.

Roger joined Margaret today to talk about how he came to his decision to retire and return to school and share some of his favorite moments. Afterward, he spent time with fans who joined us in the audience.

The Sounders FC will honor Roger at their home game against the Portland Timbers on October 7th. For more information, and to watch some of the team's favorite highlights with Roger, please click here.
