It's a very sobering statistic: nearly one out of every four women is living in or has suffered through an abusive relationship. Many people are too afraid to leave, or don't know where to go for help. A special event this week puts the struggle against domestic violence in the spotlight - with a fashion show called "Runway to Freedom." The event benefits New Beginnings, an organization that helps women and children escaping abusive home lives.
Event organzier Lauren Grinnell from Intermezzo Salon joined Margaret to share her own story of domestic violence survival and talk more about the event and the designers and entertainers taking part. Leeza Hayes from New Beginnings talked more about the work they do.
Runway to Freedom takes place Thursday, October 20 at PNK Ultra Lounge at Pacific Place in Seattle. Doors open at 8pm.
