Functional exercises work every muscle in the body, mimicking the way the body actually moves and improving performance for everything from walking the dog to climbing Mt. Rainer. In the above picture, Recess participants placed their feet on plastic discs, and then dragged their body weight across the field in while in plank position. This worked the core, upper body and lower body in one fluid movement.
