Here are the three MYTHS vs. FACTS discussed during today's segment:
MYTH #1: I can stop or reverse the aging process by consuming a particular food, drink, or taking a supplement.
FACT: Aging is a complex process in which virtually every aspect of your mind and body are undergoing some degree of decline. There is no single thing you can do to stop or reverse this. But, the vast majority of those age-related declines can be addressed. The more of them that you address effectively, the better results you will get. But effectively addressing the negative changes associated with aging, require that you address your anabolic hormone levels, your paracrine and intracrine hormone systems, optimize your supplements based on science rather than wishful thinking, boost your immune system to the highest level of competence possible, eliminate your self-destructive lifestyle issues, and change your diet and exercise to near optimal levels. If you work with physicians that are able to help you with the medical aspects, and are willing to make the necessary changes in your life, you will find that the vast majority of the age-related changes that you thought were inevitable are going to turn out to be avoidable.
MYTH #2: You can't expect to function as well in your 50s and 60s as you did in your 20s and 30s.
FACT: If you do all the things we said you should do in fact one, you should be able to function as well in your 40s, 50s and 60s as most people do in their 20s and 30s. While it's true that someone with optimal health and in their 20s and 30s will generally function better than someone in optimal health, who is in their 50s and 60s, an optimized person in their 60s can function as well or better than the average person in their 20s and 30s
MYTH #3: Since there is nothing you can really do about the aging process, it's important to age gracefully.
FACT: There's absolutely nothing graceful about what is usually happening to us as we age. Aging gracefully is an oxymoron. Refer to fact one and fact two.
