Stylist Darcy Camden joined Margaret to share four fashionable holiday party ensembles that cost less than $100 each! She also shared tips for saving money while shopping.
Here are Darcy's tips for holiday shopping on the cheap:
#1. Always try everything on. This frantic time of year, you want to make as few mistakes as possible to avoid a second trip to the mall to exchange. Shop on a weekday, preferably within the first hour of store opening when the line to the fittings rooms is short.
#2. Shop with a friend. Grab a girl friend who is approximately your same size; if you each buy a dress, you can trade after the holidays, giving you each a "two-for-one" deal.
#3. Imagine two ways to wear every dress. Think beyond your upcoming party, if you can. Imagine restyling the dress for a summer wedding or plan to wear it again next year. Look for "Buy One Get One Free" deals on accessories, because changing the jewelry or adding a belt can transform the look of a dress.
#4. Be familiar with return policies.
Many store have "final sale" policies on holiday dresses or clearance items (because they don't want to be stuck with tons of sequins after the first of the year). Make sure you like it before you buy, because you may be stuck with it!
