A recent study by the CDC found that nearly 20% of students in grades 9-12 reported being bullied in the year preceding the survey. A classroom program called "Roots of Empathy" is an anti-bullying program in elementary schools across the country, encouraging empathy and kindness among students at an early age. The program uses babies as the "teacher," and has been shown to significantly reduce aggression among children. Founder of the "Roots of Empathy" program, Mary Gordon along with April Kim, a 3rd grade teacher at Beacon Hill International School and her son Mikeel, joined the discussion.
Mary will be talking about 'Roots of Empathy' at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday November 29th at Town Hall Seattle. Tickets are free, reserve your seat at: http://www.rootsofempathy.org/
