Christmas gifts that will stretch the mind

If you are looking for that perfect gift to stretch the mind, engage the senses, or blow your mind, these next ideas will do just that! Katherine Johnson, from the Pacific Science Center, has all the details!

Toys displayed on today's show:

Destruct 3,8+
· Player one builds using the blocks, using two of them as their base. The destroyer then rolls the die to see what tool they get to destruct with. The destructor than plays the tool and takes a swing. Depending where the fallen pieces land depends on how many points they get. The builder gets points based on how many pieces are left standing. You then switch and the builder then becomes the destroyer for the other player.

Lilly Ball UFO, 14+
· This toy is an indoor three channel UFO with Gyro. It is extremely balanced and the ball protects the blades. The top propeller can change which direction it will go. While the middle propellers determine the height.

R/C Stunt, 5+
· Great remote control for most ages
· You start the car and watch it light up and make car sounds. The front wheels rotate and flip, doing different stunts.

Imaginets, 3+
· With this toy you use different magnetic blocks to arrange to match 50 different design challenges. It’s a great toy to boost motor and visual thinking skills. The magnetic board doubles as a dry-erase board. This lets the kids to create a world for their design. There is no limit to your imagination.

Green Rocket, 8+
· With this toy you build your own stomp rocket. You get to re-use two old two liter bottles and an old magazine to create your rocket.
· How it works is: as you stomp, air is pushed through the hose, up the launch tube, and pushes against the closed end of the rocket. The resulting force causes the rocket to launch through the air.

Squishy T-Rex, 7+
· With this toy you get to build an anatomically correct model T-Rex with five squishy organs. It also comes with an educational booklet about the T-Rex. The booklet was written by Dennis Schatz, VP of Strategic Planning for Pacific Science Center.

Butterfly Dress-Up Wings, 5+
· Pretend you’re a butterfly flying around with these wings. Or wear them during your next visit to our Tropical Butterfly House.
