The author of "Among the Wonderful", Stacy Carlson, joined us as she discussed her debut novel.

"Among the Wonderful" is an historical fiction set in 1840's Manhattan at Phineas T. Barnum's American Museum, which was the country's most popular entertainment venue for a time. Though most people associate Barnum with his circus, he made his fortune and began his career with his spectacular and madcap museum.

The novel follows two characters, Ana Swift, the professional giantess, and Emile Guillaudeu,
a taxidermist. Though the characters struggle with the changing landscape of entertainment as the country first experiences - and loves - outlandish spectacles and arcane, exotic displays, they also grow throughout the novel, and stay in readers' thoughts long after the book is finished.
