Friday the 13th will be rainy and windy around Western Washington. Both ramp up as the day goes on.
The south winds will be 15 to 30 mph in the Seattle area. Places like Everett, Anacortes, Bellingham, Friday Harbor will see 40 mph gusts. On the Olympic Peninsula and in Grays Harbor County, gusts will be up to 35 mph.
We are getting rain because of a warm front pushing through the area, although the temperatures won’t be increasing that much, as we are still below normal by about five degrees. The high in Seattle Friday is expected to be 54 degrees.
For the weekend, nearly three inches of rain expected in some areas, with over two inches expected in Seattle by Sunday evening. The heaviest rain will fall along the coast and in the mountains. In fact, the coast could see 1 to 3 inches and the Olympics could see up to 4 inches. The runoff will cause a Flood Watch for the Skokomish River Friday night through Saturday night.
We're watching the progress of a cold front over the weekend. If it stays west, we could be mostly dry. If it's closer, we stay wet. Right now, the coast and communities north of Seattle have the best chance of staying wet. The front passes Saturday night, and we turn to cooler showers for Sunday.
Long range models give us a somewhat drier week next week.
