The Boeing 737 MAX 9 is now cleared for deliver. The FAA gave the new plane an 'amended type certificate.' That means MAX 9 can be delivered to Lion Air Group, the plane's first customer. Boeing says the final preps for delivery are underway and should be delivered in the next few weeks.

The certification means the plane meets all required aviation regulations for handling, systems and overall performance.

"Our teams built superior capabilities into the MAX 9 and proved them all the way through flight test. We're looking forward to bringing this airplane to market for our valued customers," said Keith Leverkuhn, vice president and general manager of the 737 MAX program, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

The MAX 9 can carry up to 220 passengers with a range of 3,350 nautical miles.
