The new league year officially begins Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean teams aren’t already looking ahead to the NFL Draft.

The Seattle Seahawks, who have parted ways with numerous starters as they ponder their roster overhaul, have a glaring need that must be addressed: running back.

NFL Draft Scout’s Rob Rang believes the Seahawks will turn to running back Derrius Guice out of LSU with their No. 18 overall selection.

“The Seahawks already spent their second- and third-round picks of the 2018 draft, landing defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (Jets) and offensive tackle Duane Brown (Texans) in trades, leaving general manager John Schneider with essentially two choices here – either trade back to recoup picks or directly address the club’s anemic running game,” Rang notes in his latest mock draft.

“The 5-foot-11, 218-pound Guice possesses the combination of burst, balance through contact and toughness Seattle has lacked since Marshawn Lynch left town.”

The Seahawks finished a disappointing No. 23 in rushing last season and were unable to bank on an established starter.

While Seattle could likely add an inexpensive veteran back via free agency, they remain on the hunt for a feature ball carrier, something that has alluded the team since Lynch donned the silver and black.

For the Tigers, Guice logged an impressive 237 carries for 1251 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. If he could manage just half that in Seattle this season, it would be a major improvement in the backfield.
