Sumner football celebrated their fifth straight Sunset Bowl victory on Friday, beating out rival Bonney Lake 49-13.
Sumner, which made it into the state semi-finals last season, came in ranked No. 2 in the 4A ranks. The Bonney Lake Panthers, which made it to the state quarterfinals in 2016, are ranked No. 5 in the 3A ranks.
Both teams lost several key seniors to graduation, but return plenty of big-play makers.
Bonney Lake was the home team and, and while this game has no league or playoff implications, it's a game both teams wanted as they played for Sumner School District pride.
They expected a sell-out crowd and had a blanket/bottled water drive outside the stadium before game to support Hurricane Harvey relief.
