The 60-year-old man was struck by a freight train near King Street Station on Tuesday about 5:45 a.m.

The man was trespassing on the tracks and was hit inside the tunnel between Jackson and Pine Streets, according to BNSF, which is investigating the collision. He waved at the train and then bent down as the train approached, train crew told BNSF.

The train blew its horn and went into an emergency brake situation, but it could not stop in time, according to BNSF.
