Police arrested a 33-year-old Kent man who is suspected of attacking and attempting to rape a barista.
The man has an extensive criminal history and was taken into custody without incident at his workplace Wednesday, according to Kent Police.
“We want to thank everyone that called in and identified this violent offender; our streets are safer because of each of you,” Detective Melanie Robinson said in a release.
The attack occurred early Tuesday morning at the Hottie Shots Espresso stand in the 21200 block of 84th Avenue S, according to Kent police.
Video captured by a surveillance camera inside the stand shows the suspect enter through the window and hold the barista at knifepoint. He forces her out through the same window and into a dark alleyway.
According to police, the man was “spooked by the vehicle headlights of a customer that pulled into the barista stand drive through” during the attempted sexual assault. He fled the area in what police believe was a dark sedan with black rims.
