Hi, I’m Amity Addrisi and since 2015, I have been honored to tell the stories of the people in the great Pacific Northwest. During that time I’ve been lucky enough to share a cup of coffee with you as your weekend morning anchor, keep you informed about health and wellness as the Chief Medical Reporter for HealthLink, and you’ve probably even seen me slogging through wind, rain and snow as I report on breaking news. Now, I am honored to follow in the footsteps of Margaret Larson as the host of our iconic lifestyle show New Day Northwest.
I was born in Southern California, but moved all over the country throughout my childhood, which gifted me with a wide variety of perspectives and culture. I graduated from UCLA in 2002, where I studied English literature and geology. My love for writing and science found a perfect home in journalism. The first stop along my career path was in beautiful Bakersfield, California. While enduring triple digit temperatures I covered wildfires, national news stories (which always have a habit of breaking in Bakersfield) and became deeply engrossed in the community. From there my career led me to Sacramento, California, where I learned a great deal about politics and government.
When KING 5 came calling, I knew we must go. My family is delighted to have been adopted by the Pacific Northwest, where we have found our forever home. My daughter loves exploring the nature that surrounds us, and my son, who was born in Seattle, is obsessed with airplanes and wants to spend every waking moment at the Museum of Flight.
When I’m not at work I love cooking, cuddling with my kids and reading. I like reading A LOT. My favorite genre is urban fantasy and paranormal romance, which are quite often mysteriously set right here in the PNW. Coincidence? I think not.
If there is one thing anyone would say about me, it is that I keep it real. Guilty as charged! I’ll always keep it real and raw with you because that’s the only way I know how to connect while making me a better person.
