Have you seen my Funktified board on Pinterest? Well, it is full of miscellaneous (and incredibly funky) ideas that will soon become reality throughout my house. Growing up, my room changed colors about every six months. At one point, I actually made my own wallpaper out of magazine articles of my favorite bands. Seriously.
I'm a HUGE (as in MEGA) fan of very bright and fun colors. After living in this house for five years, I'm finally getting around to painting it. My Get Funktified project started in the laundry room. You can see the before picture above. The room is actually large it's just large in a long way so it is very difficult to photograph. Here are some of the after pictures below.
I used a light blue paint and then highlighted with red accents. The paint was only $15 after coupon and rebate at Lowes and most of the accents I already had so I just painted them red. I did buy the basket at Walmart for $8 and the picture for $8. The bins were $4 at Walmart but after I purchased those, I noticed they had some at Target for only $2 FYI.
That's Bolt in the picture, he DOES NOT like his picture being taken at all. That's him trying to hide.
Just another look. I was trying to get those colors to come out better in the pics but the lighting is really bad in that particular room.
I added a blind which my mom found in her attic. The shelf was from a garage sale so I painted it red and added mason jars full of dog biscuits (since my dogs sleep in this room). The clip board underneath has the cutest laundry printable.
My mom found this laundry sign which I'm sure is supposed to hold actual laundry however, it worked out perfectly for my ladder.
I finished it off with this. Yep, I painted the door black. I also made those silver Anthropologie letters myself and I think it looks SO cute. That picture next to do the door is an old canvas picture that I did not like anymore so I covered it in chalkboard paint and wrote a verse on it. BAM. Instant new decor.
Here's Bolt again. He is SO over the camera thing.
This is sister, she likes her new blue room. You can't tell but she does, I just know it. She was waggin' her tail with excitement which of course, totally wore out her 14 year old self and she had to lay down. I don't blame her.
The best part about this makeover is that the cost was minimal. It's all about using items you already own and adding a little color. A gallon of paint can go a long way, folks! Next stop, my bedroom. Stay tuned for that!
