This morning I was talking on Air 1 about how to save money with menu planning. In all honestly, I'm not the planning type however, menu planning can save some serious cash and I am all about that. First, here are some basic money saving techniques I teach about how to plan your menu:
1. Plan around the sales: Simply planning your menu around the weekly sales flyers will save you mega money. That is because these are the loss leaders and they are already at discounted prices. Even if you never clip a coupon, you will still save money by planning this way.
2. Plan around the coupons: Break out your coupons and plan your menu using them too. You can combine the sale and coupon together by checking out our matchups section. Now, you've doubled your savings and it's so easy to glance at our matchups then plan your menu according to the deals.
3. Plan around your stockpile: If you have 10 jars of spaghetti sauce in your pantry then be sure to make some spaghetti this week! Sometimes we completely forget about what we have stockpiled, visit your pantry and start planning your weekly menu around what you already have.
To make it SUPER easy for you, we have teamed up with MommyHatesCooking.com to bring you frugal recipes each Monday. We have added a Frugal Recipes forum as well as a Menu Planning page to MoneySavingQueen.com. Every Monday, Mommy Hates Cooking brings us the menu plan and I match it up with coupons.
Remember, menu planning also means less trips to the grocery store and peace of mind since you'll know exactly what your family will be eating every single day of the week. Enjoy!
