Piano Man Scales Back in Miami
In 2006, Long Island native Billy Joel did what many New Yorkers do. He flocked to Florida, only in his case, he was able to buy a $13.5 million waterfront mansion on La Gorce Island.
Now comes word that the multi-talented musician just sold his 7,856-square-foot Mediterranean mansion for nearly $14 million, just a shade below the $14.75 million at which the 7-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom abode was listed. For all his years of owning a property with 165 feet of waterfront, we’ve yet to hear a song called “Biscayne Bay State of Mind.”
Kristen Stewart’s Mom Moves On
In the midst of all that romance-busting trouble last year with Robert Pattison, when the lovebirds were in and out of L.A. area homes with greater frequency than a pizza delivery man, “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart bought herself a $2 million home in Los Feliz.
Now it’s her mom’s turn to churn some real estate.
Jules Stewart and her pet hybrid wolves are shacking up in a traditional-style home that the mother of the non-bride just bought in Sherman Oaks for $990,000 – a far cry from the $4.8 million residence she bought in Malibu in 2011.
While it’s not going to win any celebrity real estate awards for over-the-top posh or trendy, Mama Stewart’s new home is called the “ultimate in casual living,” complete with a pool, spa, a generous-sized master suite and updated kitchen.
Political Turnover in the Windy City
Four months after David Axelrod was named a political analyst for MSNBC and NBC News, the former Barack Obama campaign kingpin has listed one of his two Chicago condos for $1.25 million.
Axelrod and his wife, Susan, bought the Lake Point Tower unit at 505 N Lake Shore DR #4604, Chicago IL 60611 in 2002 for $950,000 and remodeled the 3,200-square-foot residence. With 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a 38-foot-wide great room that no doubt saw the likes of candidate Obama, the unit is being marketed as a perfect for entertaining -- or plotting presidential campaigns.
Styx Guitarist Lists ‘Bravo’ Star Jeff Lewis’ Renovation Creation
Forget the rocker image. Styx guitarist Tommy Shaw let his wife Jeanne go to town with Bravo star Jeff Lewis with their 6161 Mulholland Highway house and it turned out, well, sedately and studiously perfect.
But while the large-scale renovation made for good footage in the hit show “Flipping Out,” the couple is ready to flip out of the property themselves.
Listed for $5.523 million, the hilltop compound overlooking Los Angeles is loaded with a contemporary kitchen, a master suite with walk-in closets, a sleek soaking tub and steam shower. There are also two guesthouses, an at-home barbershop and outdoor kitchen to a fire pit and glow-in-the-dark swimming pool.
None of this was enough to keep the Styx man from sailing away.
