Professional snowboarder Shaun White has commanded his share of the powdery white stuff, so no one should be surprised to hear that the king of the half-pipe has picked a far less frigid locale to park his snowboard.
The red-headed Olympian and TV pitchman has earned more than enough cash to pay the $3.85 million freight on his new 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home in Encinitas, Calif., overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The beach house not only includes floor-to-ceiling windows but also has an enticingly steep set of stairs that lead directly to the sandy beach below. But maybe the downhill racer will forego the steps when it’s time for a dip and just board down the railing.
No American Idiot is He
Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong’s amazingly productive year (2 rock operas, 3 studio albums) hit a major wall in September after a Las Vegas tirade prompted a stint in rehab. Now the eye-shadowed Oakland resident is making at least one change in his life: Dumping the under 1,000-square-foot Newport Beach cottage he and his wife gutted and remodeled after buying the place back in 2006. The 1946 hideaway has been listed for $1.895 million.
Art House High
When he isn’t lingerie shopping in Paris with Rihanna or churning out high-brow books for New York art house publisher Rizzoli, hip-hop Renaissance man Pharrell Williams is looking for a buyer. Apparently, the rapper/producer/designer wants a different view from the one he now owns 40 floors above Miami. Williams’ 9,000-square-foot apartment on Bricknell Avenue in Miami spans three floors, commands 360-degree views of Biscayne Bay, has 5 bedrooms and numerous terraces and comes with its own sky-high swimming pool. Price: $16.8 million.
