SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane County Sheriff’s Department is responding to numerous wrecks this weekend as drivers try to adjust winter conditions.

There were at least 66 wrecks in Spokane County Friday between noon and 8 p.m.

Officers say most the wrecks were caused by people traveling too fast, too closely, or being distracted by something else.

Police responded to more than 66 wrecks Friday night in Spokane County.

Troopers responded to a jack-knifed semi Friday along Interstate 90. The semi got stuck just on the eastbound Hamilton Street ramp. About 30 gallons of diesel fuel leaked onto the off-ramp. Officials say nobody was hurt.

State troopers responded to a head-on crash near Airway Heights on Friday evening. The crash near Hayford Road sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officials say one car slide off the road and hit another vehicle sending both into a ditch.

The snow made for slick conditions along Highway 95 Friday night. Slushy conditions slowed down traffic near Sandpoint, Idaho.

A head-on collision along Highway 41 sent one person to the hospital. That person was suffering neck pain. The wreck happened near Diagonal Road just north of Rathdrum. State police say an SUV going south might have been speeding, slid through a curve, and hit a northbound pick-up truck.
