PUYALLUP, Wash. – A Puyallup family is celebrating a miracle in the making this weekend.

Anne Del Vecchio is preparing to go in for surgery to help save a complete stranger.

She is donating a kidney to Larry Valdez, who suffers from kidney disease.

The two met back in 2005. Anne's husband is part of the deaf community, and he was working as a signing Santa at Nordstrom. Larry mentioned his kidney disease and the signing Santa granted a Christmas wish, calling his wife Anne, who was already planning on donating a kidney.

At a celebration Saturday night, there were balloons, friends and family, games and a kidney-shaped cake.

"Anne called me the next day … she said Larry I don’t know what brought us together, but I want to see if I can help you out," Valdez said. "I was very touched, and I still get choked up today."

"It's been an incredible blessing for me to get to know Larry," Del Vecchio said. "To be surrounded by that much love I just think it's meant to be."

The family believes the deaf community really united these two.

They're hoping the story inspires others to give.

They go into surgery on Wednesday.
