Suspect in dragging death appears in court
05:48 PM PST on Monday, November 26, 2007
NEWPORT, Wash. – The man accused of dragging a Kitsap County man to his death appeared in a Pend Oreille County courtroom Monday.
45-year old Wendell C. Sinn, Jr. of Newman Lake was booked into jail Saturday for investigation of second degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jerid Sturman-Camyn, an Eastern Washington University student.
Court documents reveal Sinn tied Sturman-Camyn by the neck to "restrain him" after the student allegedly threatened him with an ax.
On Sturman-Camyn's Myspace page, there's an outpouring of grief from friends. As a fraternity member at Eastern Washington University, Sturman-Camyn gave his nickname as "bubba."
His motto: go big or go home!
"Joe was a great guy. He was very outgoing he was very passionate," said one fraternity friend.
"He was very mellow, hung out with him almost everyday. He had the heart of a lion," said another friend.

Over the weekend, Sturman-Camyn was at a hunting campsite in Pend Oreille county. Sheriff's deputies say he and several others had been drinking Saturday night when Sturman-Camyn threatened the others by arming himself with an ax.
Sometime later, deputies say Sinn, who owns the campsite, allegedly grabbed a rope and tied Sturman-Camyn to a pickup truck. Sinn then allegedly told a teenager in the truck to drive off. According to witnesses, the 17-year-old didn't know he was dragging a body behind him until it was too late.
The judge ordered Sinn held on $100,000 bond. He is expected to get out of jail and is not considered a flight risk.
