BELLEVUE - State troopers had to chase down a man for a second time after he jumped into the front seat of a Washington State Patrol cruiser and drove off.

The suspect managed to drive off in handcuffs.

It all started as a routine traffic stop Wednesday afternoon near the SR 520 Bridge.

A trooper was heading eastbound when he pulled over a suspected drunk driver.

While the trooper inspected the suspect's vehicle, the suspect – who was in handcuffs in the trooper's car – managed to crawl into the front seat and drive off with the unmarked Impala cruiser.

The patrol car was spotted a short time later in an apartment complex along Bel-Red Road. The suspect had run off.

No weapons were missing, no one was hurt and the vehicle was not damaged.

The suspect was caught shortly after 5 p.m.
