Girls basketball coach pleads innocent to sex charge

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The former Mabton High School girls basketball coach accused of having a sexual relationship with a player pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexual misconduct.
The 32-year-old man, Mike Roettger, was freed on $25,000 bail after Monday's arraignment in Yakima County Superior Court. His lawyer, George Trejo, says there was no inappropriate contact.
Police say the coach and the teen had a year-long sexual relationship that ended last August.
The school superintendent, Sandra Pasiero-Davis, told the Yakima Herald-Republic the district's investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.
