SEATAC, Wash. – After holiday decorations were put up, taken down and put up again at Sea-Tac International Airport last year, managers think they have something that should please just about everybody this time.

After a rabbi threatened to sue the Port of Seattle for putting up Christmas trees but no menorahs at the airport last year, an advisory committee was put together to make recommendations for this year's holiday display.

Through sight and sound, designer Randy Trostle and Displaymaker Productions crew are trying to create peace and harmony.

"And then shortly after the wind chimes start there's a gentle snowfall," explained Randy. "And the gentle snowfall is the symbolization of peace. So that's where we found peace and harmony."

Peace and harmony. Who can argue with that?

"The advisory panel told us that they thought to reflect the broadest community possible. We needed to focus on this, on peace and harmony, which is something everybody can get behind," said Michael Feldman, Sea-Tac Airport Deputy Director.

Last year, Rabbi Elizar Bogamilsky asked Sea-Tac officials to add a menorah to the Christmas trees around the airport.

The port responded by taking down the trees. But after a national outcry, the rabbi withdrew his threat of a lawsuit and the trees went back up.

This year, expect to see snow- and crystal-draped birch trees, migrating birds and vibrant environmentally friendly lights – not a single Christmas tree or menorah.

Sea-Tac managers say the display will be installed beginning November 10. The concourses will also feature scenes of the San Juan Islands, the City of Seattle, and Mount Rainier.
