MT. ADAMS, Ore. - Search efforts were underway Tuesday for an Oregon man reported missing on Mt. Adams, according to the Yakima County Sheriff's office.

Derek Mamoyac, 27, reportedly left at 2 p.m. Saturday to climb the mountain. Family contacted officials Monday morning when he didn't return or show up for work.

A limited search was launched Monday. Mamoyac's car was located at the Cold Springs trailhead. One searcher reached the 8,000-foot level but did not see any sign of Mamoyac.

Yakima County officials were planning to mobilize a more extensive search Tuesday for Mamoyac, who's believed to be from the Corvallis area.

The 12,277-foot mountain is about 31 miles east of Mount St. Helens.
