MARYSVILLE, Wash. – More jobs are going away in Marysville.

Today, Milgard Windows & Doors decided to close its Marysville plant. The company will lay off roughly 75 people.

A manager says they are providing outplacement services and other benefits to employees who are losing their jobs, but they say they realize they are sending them out into a difficult job climate.

That was apparent at a job fair today in Seattle.

"I put out a few applications," said Robert Lichty, who was looking for a job at the event. "Haven't gotten any calls on any of them though, which surprises me because some of them are retail and this time of year usually they're hiring."

KING 5 polled hundreds of people to see how worried they are about losing their jobs.

-13 percent say they are very concerned,

-19 percent say somewhat

-and 30 percent say not very,
-but only 38 percent tell us they are not worried.

When asked if they believe a new job would match their current pay and benefits:

-48 percent are very concerned it would not,  

-25 percent are somewhat concerned,

-and only 10 percent say they're not worried at all.

Today's job fair attracted everyone from students looking for their first jobs to people coming out of retirement due to financial concerns.

"With the cost of everything going up and gas and transportation, yeah, it's almost making it like you can't retire anymore," said Agatha Cardinal, who was looking for a job. "It's getting scary."
