FIFE, Wash. - A Fife high school teacher has been suspended amid allegations he sent inappropriate text messages to students.
Fife police are investigating while the 27-year-old business math teacher is on administrative leave.
KING was told the teacher asked students for the cell phone numbers and they gave them to him. One of the girls decided to show us some of the unusual text messages she says came from her teacher. Her mother wants her daughter to remain anonymous, but she wants other parents and girls to hear the story.
"She started coming home crying from school and upset," the mother said.
Her 17-year-old daughter says she received more than 50 text messages from her teacher this fall.
"I felt uncomfortable. Almost like if a guy was hitting on you," her daughter said.
Here are two examples of what the mother calls inappropriate text messages from the teacher to his student: "I'm bored as heck working this JV soccer game. You need to provide some entertainment." "Well, you are on my crap list. FYI. I needed entertainment yesterday!"
The girl's mother said: "He keeps asking her about ... if she were stranded alone would she remain celibate."
The Fife School District confirms the teacher was put on administrative leave a week ago. He's been at Fife high for a few years. The teacher has not been arrested and no charges have been filed so far.
Fife police are talking with students to see how many girls are involved.
This girl says the teacher also called her several times on her cell phone.
"I think it's ridiculous and sad and it makes me sick that my daughter was in the class having to deal with this as long as she had to," the mother said.
In the case Fife police are investigating what might be "communicating with a minor for immoral purposes."
