TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma Police detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect responsible for the hit-and-run death of a 53-year-old man.

On Sunday at about 12:25 a.m., McKellar was hit by an unidentified vehicle as he attempted to cross Pacific Ave. near the intersection of 72nd St. at about 12:25 a.m. Sunday.

McKellar's brother, Vern, lives in Sacramento.

He said his brother leaves behind six children and seven grandchildren.

"Everybody loved him," he said.

Investigators believe McKellar was dragged several blocks by the vehicle before the suspect fled the area.

Detectives are looking for any witnesses to the crime, including the drivers and passengers from a gray Jeep Cherokee and a red full-sized pickup that were seen in the area at the time of the accident.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and filing of charges in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call 253-591-5959. Callers can remain anonymous.
