SEATAC, Wash. - Police are investigating a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred in the 20000 block of 32nd Avenue South.

Authorities say the intruder covered his face, broke into a residence and assaulted a woman who was home alone. The victim called police around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

"Apparently an unknown black male broke into the house in SeaTac and sexually assaulted the resident that was inside," said Capt. Carl Cole, of the King County Sheriff's Office. "At some point after that he apparently escaped on foot."

Sheriff's deputies today scoured the SeaTac neighborhood for evidence.

"They had K-9 in our backyard and the next door neighbor," said Don Norris, who lives next door. "Apparently, they assumed somebody came through our yard."

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Neighbors say she's a married mother of two teenagers who kept a low profile.

Detectives say at this time they don't know how the intruder got in, whether he was armed, or how he chose his victim.

"This situation is one of the worst types. If you don't know the motivation of the suspect or how they're choosing the victims or what not, that's the scariest group," Cole said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office.
