04:47 PM PDT on Monday, October 6, 2008
TACOMA, Wash. - Police are searching for the driver that hit and killed a pedestrian on Pacific Ave. between 72nd Street and 64th Street early Sunday morning.
Natalie Robinson was inside Morgan's Motel when a strange sound just after 1 a.m. prompted her to run outside.
"I looked over and there's a shoe in the street," she said.
A car had hit 53-year-old Ronald A. McKellar of Tacoma.
"I tried to get the license plate. I wished I could have got it," said Robinson.
The driver of the car slowed down after hitting a trash can and running up on the curb, but sped up again and took off.
Police say the suspect dragged McKellar seven or eight blocks.
