Giuliani stops in at Kirkland, Wash. restaurant

06:12 PM PDT on Saturday, September 29, 2007

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani.

KIRKLAND, Wash. - Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani spent less than a half hour at a restaurant before leaving for a fundraiser at a private residence on the eastside.

About 50 people were at the Oriel Cafe in downtown Kirkland. Giuliani did not talk to the patrons, but talked to the media that had been told he was coming on Saturday afternoon.

A half dozen protesters were on hand to greet Giuliani. Two carried signs that said "911 was a fake" and "911 was on inside job."

Earlier in the day, Giuliani took his presidential campaign to Palm Springs, Calif., and Portland, Ore.

In California, Giuliani made a simple case for his presidential candidacy to a national convention of Republican women: He's not Hillary Clinton.

Speaking to a GOP organization devoted to getting women elected, Giuliani hammered on the Democratic front-runner and said he deserved their support.
