SEATTLE – A man suspected of raping a Subway sandwich shop in Chehalis, Wash. then robbing the place last month is in custody on an unrelated charge.

The Chehalis Police Department says it is asking the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office to charge the man with two counts of first degree robbery and one count of first degree rape. KING 5 is not identifying the man because has not been formally charged.

The suspect is being held in the Cowlitz County Jail on $500,000 bond for another robbery.

Police say the woman who was attacked was closing up the store July 16 around 10 p.m. when the rapist somehow got in the back door.

The man had a handgun. Police say he raped the woman, took cash from the store, tied up the victim then took off.

The victim managed to untie herself and go to a friend's house to call 911.
